DirectX 7 Vista compatible?

From searching the forums I've found that it's a common problem to find games
that were fine pre-Vista throwing up error messages due to the requirement of
DirectX 7 - despite later versions already being installed.

Crysis Crashes in Win7 Vista & XP

Anybody have any ideas?
The crash data is from win7
Similar crashes occur in the other win versions.
These seem to occur --
Most often in the fight on the Carrier
Most often in the higher resolutions
Most often during complex game play (Combat)
They do not occur in Crysis Warhead.
The win 7 Machine is stable ...

Graphics glitch while playing BiA:HH

A long time ago, I got Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. I decided to use it
on my old Vista laptop, since I knew it worked on that operating system.

I have the same two games: King Kong & AoM Titans. According to my
laptop, it's the StarForce Protection thing that's having problems with
King Kong. Trying to update now.. have tried putting in compatibility
mode for XP SP2 but isn't working. Running as admin too, obviously.
If anyone finds a way to make either ...
