My Labtop Won't Recognize Any Discs

I have a Satellite A305-S6843 Labtop. Wheneve I put in a CD it doesnt show up
in the Computer file, as in I can't see it as a file like on my real PC at
home. So, the only CDs that I can use are ones that startup by themselves,
and not even all of those work. So I'm wondering how do I open files on these
CDs ...

I have Windows Vista Home Premium indatlled in my sytem. i have reinstalled
the OS, as there was some proble in IE and registry. Before that i had backed
up files on DVDs. now if i try to retrive or retore the files on dvd using
advance restore. my system cannot read files on dvd which are NDA files.

Vista Search Fails to Initialize

Hi
For some reason my Vista search has stopped working completely. The service
is still running though. Everytime i run the search i get the error message
"search fails to initialize".

I have never found Windows Search useful because it has never returned
results that I'm looking for (in over two years, from within Microsoft).

Slide Show not in Gadget Manager

Although the folder with what seems all the files exists in Windows Sidebar,
Gadgets, the Slide Show Gadget does not show up on the sidebar or in the
Gadget Manager. Is there a way to reinstall or reactivate it?

when i close IE i get this error msg " Exception EFCreateError in module
