Large download from MS Update +70GB

Hi,
I have only allowed English as language and only selected Critical and
Security updates, but when it starts syncing, it tells me its needs to
download 73GB of files.
Is this right? Sounds a bit excessive.

HELP! Windows Update Totally Messed Up!!!

I have a problem on a customer's computer that is kicking my butt. He had
multiple viruses which I removed, then repaired the XP Home SP2 install with
the original CD. Everything is working fine except updates. If I go to
Microsoft Update, it hangs IE 6 and I have to force a quit in Task Manager.

I am running windows vista business (with service pack 1 installed.) On a 32
bit system. on the 4th of september windows automatically installed Windows
update agent 7.2.6001.784 and since then I get the message "windows cant
check for updates" when I try to manualy check i get error code 8000ffff

Im trying to upgrade my windows xp to vista but evey time I put the upgrade
assistant dvd in it runs and tells me that the operating system (windows xp)
is not compatible so it won't run the upgrade. Can anyone please help Im

Getting Progress Failed on all catalog downloads

What port are you using for downloads? Our proxy may be blocking it. I've
tried on both Vista and XP systems to download the updates from
catalog.update.microsoft.com but they always fail. The error code is
8DD0023. None of the suggested causes apply to my situation. I'm

These problems occured BEFORE installing Norton 360.
