Outlook XP/ Windows 8 incompatability issue

I recently downloaded IE 8 (up from IE 6) and have found that when I am
reading emails on Outlook XP (2002) I can not copy a non-hotlinked link to a
site or page in an email and open it in IE8 like I used to to be able to do
with IE 6? What's up, what has changed? Is there anything I can do about it

Can someone give me an article or help on how to fix a XP computer in a 2003
Domain that when you ping it's netbios name, an IP address from some other

My screen resolution is changing to 640 x 480 everytime I boot up
