CalculatedRepresentation error

Since the end of March I've been getting the following error when getting a
map with a route obtained from the RouteService: "Mad file version in
CalculatedRepresentation does not match supplied value: CRR = NA.US.CD.1402,

curious about which product to use, MapPoint Web Service or Virtual Earth?
What are the major differences?
Why is Virtual Earth free, while MapPoint Web Service is not when they are
both Microsoft products?

I have a hypothesis of the trouble with MapPoint's Find Service "Find" method:
As mentioned before, the SearchContext when given a Subdivision EntityID
will crap out when looking for a populated place in that subdivision and
default back to the entire DataSource many times!!!
