Microsoft Word 2003 opening documents EXTEREMLY slow...

I am at my wits end with this.
I just purchased a brand new Dell computer (Windows XP), and Word opens fine
if it's a blank document or just starting Word itself. If I try to open a
document, it takes 5-10 minutes to open it, if at all.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED THE FOLLOWING:

I'm thinking about getting a TechNet subscription and one of the reasons is
to be able to run some testing labs. From what I understand you get 10
"activations" with programs/OS's that need activating? (Visa/Server2008) Is
that correct?

Error 720

Internet printing for Print Cluster

Does anybody know how to set up internet printing for a print cluster?
We are running W2K3 R2 fully patched. All the documentation we find on
internet printing states we need to have IIS installed on the Print server -
This is not possible with a cluster.

Vista and MS Office 2003

I have MS Office 2003 and it meets my needs just fine. At least it did on
XP. Excel now doesn't work right in Vista. Half, usually the bottom half,
of the Excel display shows no data or lines (the lines the define the cells).
