it doesn't have a email address meaning i cnt update my xbox live will i

When playing a game - i.e. Halo 3 each time a "kill" occurs or a player
leaves, the game reverts back to the listing of players on the 2 Teams - a
wait occurs and then the game resumes....... is this suppose to occur each
time - ?
