Rise of nations Direct Multiplayer problem

I have a router, and there are two connections through it mine and my
brothers. We want to play the game on Direct multi player with our two other
friends but when he enters my ip on his computer it says attempting
connection and nothing happens and vice versa if he hosts. On both of our

Rise of Nations Installed fine, on Launch says MSXML 4 is missing

After about 90 Min of searching M$s web site I found the install for
MSXML 4, the installer says MDAC (Data Access) is missing...
Searched M$ site again, found 2 different installers, but both say
they are not for Windows XP PRo because all the functionality is
already installed.

PROBLEM: EVERYTHING WORKS FINE BUT WHEN YOU PLAY RISE OF NATIONS, AFTER A
WHILE LIKE 5 MINUTES WHOLE COMPUTER DOES NOT RESPOND AND KEYBOARD AND MOUSE
HANG UP!

RiseOfNations Display Limits?

I've read that Rise of Nations T&P supports a max resolution of 1280x1024 (a
reader review -- I can't find this information on the official Web site), but
the Graphics tab under Options only lets me go to 1024x768, at 32 or 16
bits. Anyone know what the max is supposed to be? ...
