Installation Problem Please help

I had FS 2004 running on my pc. I then added scenery from a 3rd party that
crashed my system. I did a complete format and recovery from my recovery
disks (HP) and tried to re-install the game. All I get now is the splash
screen and then the main menu I am to get is in the lower right hand corner

Kneeboard causes crash in FS2004

Whenever I try to access the kneeboard and then try to use the scrollbar the
game locks up. I have to try and quit the game and have to turn my power off
to get my computer working again. Everything else works fine; except for the

What joystick do you use/prefer for FS2004? I just bought a Logitech
Extreme 3D Pro, but I don't 100% like it. It doesn't seem as responsive as
I'd like it to be.
What joystick have you found to be the most responsive and best to use for

FS2004 Safe Mode

It says in the Flight Sim 2004 FAQ that Safe Mode is independent of the video
drivers and the card. Does that mean I can install the game on a computer
with a 4 M B video card and run Safe Mode instead of the real application? ...

function.
I OK and FS9 opens. I attempted to try to delete but that is denied. How
