Running SourceSafe on remote webserver

been asked to look into running the server component on a webserver

VS2008Pro - Install Failure

I've now tried to install VS2008-Pro. WinXP-SP2+all updates. VS2005+SPs &\
updates. Before I read readme and removed SQL. After the first two failures
(removing all remnants and tem files) and re-reading the readme after each
attempt, I still get what appears to the same point. The error message is
