I was just wondering if VSS 2005 remote access offers any ability to place
files that are not a part of a VS solution into source control? We have

Shadow folder vs. Copy web site

Using VS 2005 + VSS 2005 to setup a isolated web project development
enviornment,
after developer modified checked-in the files into VSS, which way is better
to get the source
codes and pre-compile them before deployment?
Setup a shadow folder from VSS admin or use "Copy web site" command from VS
2005 IDE ...

Using VS 2005 + VS 2005 to develop web project and set up a shadow
folder for this project, however each time I check-out and check-in files,
the shadow folder won't be updated automatically. Is it normal? or need

I'm using VS 2005 + VSS 2005 to setup a isolate web project development
enviroment,
it means all developers will get latest version via VSS directly and have a
local copy in
their working machine.
However, "Refresh" won't refresh folder stuucture and status, we need to use
"Get" command
instead. But it a ...

When I try to check-in files after having modified them, I somehow get the
following error message 'A newer version in the database of the file ..'. I
don't know why ? please help.

SourceSafe from commandline. Or copy the contents of a one project,
recursively, into another.
I would also like to skip errors regarding files already existing.

I am using Visual Source Safe 2005 want to know if there is any way to read
the comments a user has entered at the time of checking out certain files ?
If answer to the above is known can I automate the comments as default when
the files are checked-in the VSS ?
