Hi
Can anyone point me to some 'best practice' / guideline docs for procedures
on good source code management.
I am thinking more about 'procedures and policies' rather than how to use
the product itself.
Any advice appreciated.

I have a lot of legacy ASP code that I need to edit. I have it all in Visual
Source Safe. When I double click a file in VSS I do not get the option to
view/check-out with the "Registered Application."
If I browse the filesystem and double click on a file it automatically opens

I want to connect to my VSS server at the office from home using a VPN, and
my network administrator tells me he needs to know through which ports VSS
connects so he can open them on the firewall.

How can I check-in the files from VSS (server) UI that are checkedout by
some user on a computer and forgot to check-in and that computer/user is not
available now? Is there a simple smooth option available in VSS?
