asp.net development web server - never opens page on first try - w

When I click the 'run' button from VS2008 STD,
it starts up the 'asp.net development server - Port xxxxx' and launches IE,
but the page can never be displayed.
Yet I can right click the dev servers systray icon and choose 'open in web
browser' and it opens fine.
Has anyone come across this - do you know w ...

running XP Pro SP2 to a Xeon quad core E5405 2.0Ghz with 2GB of RAM running
