Search results no longer showing subfolder

Within the past couple of weeks, one of our search files (query.asp) which we
use to query the catalog has stopped returning results from any subfolders.
If I have the scope set to global (\) the results return, but if I change the
scope to a subfolder, it will return anything in that subfolder but nothing

Svr2008 Any template for a search page?

I am trying to use the Index Service in Server 2008. It seems to be very
simular to before. No default catalog but that's no problem. No built in
search interface.

New Hardware

dashes and slashes and queries

Dashes and slashes in my indexing service queries seem to be messing
them up.
I want to find the text "f/a-18" in the catalog.
It's almost as if the slash and dash tell the query that it's the end
of the line, so instead the above query would just look for "f".
