Sat, 6 Oct 2007 17:37:02 -0700
Hello,
I am trying to configure SMTP for outbound connections to the rest of the
world from a Windows 2003 server running IIS 6.0 and I have installed SMTP
and set up an SMTP virtual server that is all unassigned as far as its IP
address is concerned.
I am finding that the SMTP server is accepting emails ...

IIS 6.0 SMTP - Is ot possible to specify a return address on NDR?
Thu, 4 Oct 2007 12:22:58 -0700
Hi all,
I have a number of SMTP VSs that each have unique local
domain names. These are used as platforms for anti-virus and
anti-spam programs. When an NDR is generated, it reflects the
sender as being from the local domain, e.g.
postmaster@thisserver.mydomain.local - which means that it may be

SMTP could not connect to any DNS server
Wed, 3 Oct 2007 21:13:57 -0400
I'm curious to here Sandy's input on
"SMTP could not connect to any DNS server. Either none are configured, or
all are down."
All the help I see on the net is related to Exchange. Under the relay tab,
the wrong host name was listed. Do you think this is possible to cause the
event id 2013 error.

I'm seeing the same errors on my Exchange 2000 server. I'm still looking
into it but it sounds like we're having the same issue although in my case
the traffic level is almost negligible. I'll post back to this thread when I
see the issue again.

Re: My Default SMTP Virtual Server does sometimes not send out my emails
Tue, 02 Oct 2007 14:24:50 -0700
Many thanks for your analysis.
I guess you're right because my mail client (Outlook 2002) behaves
sometimes very strange. Sometimes it doesn't send my emails. In that
case I have to close and reopen Outlook again.
I think I have to remove Office totally and install it again.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Wed, 7 Mar 2007 06:01:13 -0800
Hi All,
For the past week or so I've had a problem on an Win2k SP4/Exchange 2000 SP3
box with all hotfixes applied. I think I've isolated the thread causing the
problem, which is 99% CPU utilization, at that point email stops working.
The inetinfo process itself will give up CPU time to other processes, ...
