active / passive port setup

I am having a firewall set up to allow FTP connectivity from another site.
The network administrator has suggested that FTP should be an active
connection.(To IIS6/windows 2003, from XP SP2 clients)
I am aware of how to set IE6 for active FTP(as per KB KB3234460).

I have a rather curious problem. I have an authoring server that Developers
FTP to in order to upload files to make changes on the web site. Suddenly
and for no apparent reason, the developer is no able to ftp. He's getting

FTP is truncating last character in ASCII mode

I'm running FTP via IIS6 on Server 2003. the FTP job is trucating the
last character of the transfer when in ASCII mode but doesn't when in
Binary mode.
Has anyone had the problem or know how to fix it. we need to use ASCII
mode.
What FTP does IIS use ( the one in system 32) is it another.

Mention is made of 3rd party clients. I know from my own experience
that there is considerable variation in implementation among the

FTP - actual size of transferring file

I have Windows 2008 Web trial, IIS7 with FTP. I have thiss issue:
If somebody upload big file to this FTP, than I see constant size of this
file during uploading on server. Only if I stop FTP, than the size of file is
refreshed in folder.

IIS 6 FTP Timeouts?

We have IIS 6 with windows firewall and we are recieving FTP timeouts
on just certain folders. On the folders there are timeouts i can
remove a couple of files and then we can access them but it is not a
hard and fast number of files that is the issue as one folder may have
58 and we can access and the other 47 ...

I have an application that is able to upload a .gif image file with the same
name into a folder every minute.
I have setup the FTP Service from IIS6.0 under Server 2003
The application finds the folder with no problem & uploads the file.
However it will not overwrite the 'gif file preferring ...
