Vista waveinputopen: Undefined external Error

Hallo,
I deal successfully with w2k & xp with various sound card drivers and
using the same code on Vista (logged on as Admin) I receive the [1]
error: Undefined external Error message...
Is this Vista System related or HW driver related problem ?

Class not registered exception

I am upgrading an application from 32 bit to 64 bit. My application contains
the Windows Media Player. Though it used to work, my code now generates a

How to record from WaveOut?

There are a number of applications out there that record from a playing
mp3, wave or audio stream. Frankly it records from anything the sound
card is playing.
I have successfully been able to record from the microphone, but how do
I record from a sound playing through the sound card? I assume I have

idtGetData file left open

It appears that the file created by idtGetData with TYMED_FILE is left open
after the call completes. At least, I can't rename it, delete it, or do
anything other than read it until my app is closed. I tried ReleaseStgMedium,
but that deletes the file (as documented).
How do I close the file so it can be us ...
