HLSL compiler seems to ignore pixel shader constant

We are working on shaders for our flightsim engine.
At least now in the development phase these have several constants
like pixel positions hardcoded. An artist told me that changing one
position had no effect and in the end I found I could reproduce the
issue outside of our game by compiling the shader with ...

We'll soon be shipping and we're doing the ps1_1 support.
During the project we ported all our CG stuff to HLSL, and we relied on
some CG intrinsic : offsettex2D to generate texbem.
Subsituting the code for offsettex2D doesn't allow the HLSL compiler to
bind correctly the registers and generate a ...

Basic BumpMapping shader question

I'm using a rendermonkey shader for basic bumpmappings.
The one provided with the ATI application as TexturedBump.fx.
There are two vectors variable to Set to use this shader:
float3 fvLightPosition;
float3 fvEyePosition;
They also have a default value. But i wanted to alter them dynamically.

I am using ati render monkey and exported a simple fx file that I am using in
my test app. But I cant seem to get it to render anything in the window.
I want to say I am doing everything to render it right, but there is
nothing being drawn on screen, so I'm obviously missing something.

Grayscale a Texture

I am working with the Managed DirectX and attempting to add a feature that
will effectively grayscale any textures that are drawn within a Render
routine. I was hoping that this might be possible using the TextureState[x]
and SampleState[x] properties of the device, but I am not sure I full
understand ho ...
