I am absolutely new to DirectX and I have 2 simple questions on DirectX.
1) Can I import objects (e.g. robot and maze) from Maya ?
2) Can I perform 3D rotation and movement on the objects (so, the robot is moving on the maze) ?
3) Which set of DX9 API can perform these fucntion (open the objects with point 1 and ...

Rendering final alpha channel to texture.

I am using FX Composer and trying to dump the final rendered scene to a
screen sized texture: I have a shader that generates shadows and then
uses the shadow information to create the scene. I would like to then
take the scene render target and save it to a screen sized texture.

replacing vPos

I am implementing shader where I heavily relied upon the vPos semantics for
2D texture access.
I would like to be able to index a texture without using vPos since vPos is
shader model 3.0 only and I also would like to support older cards.
How can I do something similiar to
