I have had issues with my WMP for some time now. I can not see to see video

latest windows update apparently broke MP 11 for Vista, SP1

Before yesterday, everything was OK. Today, after the 15 updates, there's no
sound in Media Player at all, for any format, including WMA. The Media
Player sound control isn't set to mute, nor is Vista itself. Sounds play
fine, and other media players (WinAmp, etc.) play perfectly. Speakers test
fine in Vista ...
