Why is it so hard to find a codec to play avi on wma??

Hi all i'm new to all this and as the name suggests i don't have a clue as to
what i'm doing i've downloaded a movie but its in avi format if that's the
right term for it but i can't play it on wmp. I have a fairly up to date
computer with vista home premium and i have the div-x codec and thats working
fine ...

Yep! Go for the VLC Media Player. Look it up . It's FREE ! MS Media Player
sucks. One would think it can be used without having to bother with this
extra crap of getting Plug ins and the like. I was able to view Slide Shows
linked to the Wb Page on the MS Media Player. Now" For some reason unknown to

avi either but i also will be getting a psp soon if wmp11 cant play avi will

I have recently had to install a new hard drive on my laptop.
I have spent the last three days loading various systems - now back running

I was trying to stream video from the net and got video but no audio. The
operator sent me the file and again I only got the video. I loaded the file
into Windows Movie Maker and the saved file worked ok.
I removed ac3filter.ax from my machine and now everything works ok.

wmp9 cannot play 24 bit sound file
