Windows Media Encoder> Extreamly slow to open files for encoding

When I try to open avi files that are encoded with divx to re encode them to
WMV
encoder freezes and takes ages just to load the file, before I even start
encoding.
At first I thought that the Divx 6 codec I installed recently was the
problem, but then I downgraded to divx 5.2 and I got the same mysterious ...

Cutting WMV

seems its not al ot of traffic here, but i still hope :-)
i must cut 3 WMV to one together and remove some scenes
I produced this with media encoder and made a screen capturing wiht sound
( setting 10 frames , 1024, audio mono, 16 bit 96 bit/se)
Quality is ok and also size is wonderfullt ( 1Mb for 6 minutes) ...

Hardware Performance - Latency

I need to encode video at 8Mb and transfer it (realtime) to a player located
on the same LAN.
The quality I get is fine.
The problem is the delay. I need a minimum delay!!
does a better CPU, RAM, Mother Board, 1GB, Capture Card, Switch Etc. may
help me reduce the delay???

batch convert with time compression...how?

I regularly encode batches of files to .wma using WM Encoder 9 or the Windows
Media Encoding Script.
Now I need to add time compression to some of these files, but I have only
been able to figure out how to do this one file at a time.
Is there a command or parameter to set time compression via command line

two quick questions:
1.Multiple-Bit-Streams
If I produce a 1MBit and a 2Mbit stream, will this
aggregate to 3Mbit bandwidth or does the encoder/server work some magic
here?
I oven read "MBR streams" here and in other newsgroups. I know what they are
suppoed to do but my Encoder 9 only shows an ...
