Missing sound at end of header list

Until recently I used to receive a sound signal when pressing the next
button while reading messages and reaching the final entry. This warning has
now disappeared. Has anyone any suggestion on how to reinstate it?

Quick & Easy Way To Private Newsgroup
1. Click on attachment and SAVE on Desktop. (Greg Campbell created the contents and the private NG is all set up inside.)
2. In OE, go to Tools, Accounts, News. Click IMPORT. Import the .iaf attachment. The new group will open instantly. It will be listed down ...

I keep getting error messages like:
Your deleted items folder was not polled for its unread count...
I get it for other folder as well. I had this problem several weeks ago and
got help here but can't remember how to solve it.
Can someone help?
