Internet Explorer & WinXP Pro -- semi resolved -- not with chkdsk

Since my last message from Internet Explorer 6 IEAK on 2/10/06, I tried using
a backup file to go back a year to retrieve previous settings. It turned up
crashing my system, but I reinstalled WinXP and got things running again. I
forgot to mention... I still find a problem with a lock trying to use chkdsk

Can anyone help installed internet explorer 7 had many problems went back to
6 but now i can't change my homepage, its stuck on msn, i go to tools,
internet options input my home page, apply, press ok. When i go back in to
have a look its changed to this

IExplorer gets held up on exiting

It doesn't happen every time, but most times, when I go to exit IE 6 (sp1),
the window hangs on me. The webiste closes out, but a blank white form and
app frame is still visible, with "about:blank - Microsoft Internet Explorer"
in the window titiebar and toolbar below. Then, if I go to close the one IE

microsoft word malfunction

Since February the 3rd all my words documents and the the program itself(work
suite 2004 and office 2003) stopped working. I read about the new virus
Nyxem, and I 've done all the scanning(norton internet security 2005) and
cleanings and removal tools possible with no result.The system seems

File Downloads, Save As

Anyone familiar with the process to selectively allow/disallow users from
downloading certain file types through the IE Browser? I would like to enable
users to download GIF and JPG images from IE but no other file types. I am
currently using Group Policy to disable all downloads and Save As in Internet
