Fri, 14 Sep 2007 15:03:48 -0600
I am trying to migrate my users from an old print server to a new one. The
new server is x64 so I couldn't use the Print Server Migration tool. All of
the print shares on the new box are identical to the share names on the old
box. Can someone please tell me the easiest way to change the mappings on

Wed, 12 Sep 2007 10:16:02 -0700
I have a large dilemma. What I am trying to do is change the permissions on
all printers on a print server to all include an AD group and have that group
have permissions to manage printers and documents. I am unable to find a way
of changing this on multiple printers at a time. And unfortunately I need to

Printing problems
Mon, 10 Sep 2007 17:30:01 -0700
We have 600 or so XP Pro machines in a Win2K domain. Today, some of the PC's
lost their ability to print. The printers could be local or network
printers. Some PC's could print to some printers, but not all. When we
tried to print, the error we received was "Some driver files are missing or
incorrect; R ...

We have a group of people who are insiting that direct ip printing is better
then using a print server. They are citing an HP Direct printing paper as
their example. We have included the Microsoft article explaining the
pitfalls. Any ideas on questions to ask to make sure they understand the
position they ...

printer problems
Thu, 06 Sep 2007 07:48:14 -0700
I have got exactly the same problems. Also after I moved all of our printers from a Windows 2000 server to a Windows 2003 server. Also, randomly, when a user sends a job to the printers, they will
just keep printing until the job is cancelled, or the printer runs out of
paper.
We have Brother printers. Tried a ...

Default printer for all users
Wed, 29 Aug 2007 12:26:14 -0400
We'd like to be able to assign the same default printer to all users of a
particular machine. Is there a command line way to accomplish this? If so
we could put it in the all users startup.
Any other thoughts? We are in an AD but have limited access to the
administration of it (policies and so on), but w ...

"printing - deleted"
Wed, 29 Aug 2007 08:58:02 -0700
Posting here in lieu of there not being a "printing" category for Server
2003. We upgraded our print cluster (W2K3 SP1) to SP2 last week. Ever since
the upgrade we have an issue with the following 4 HP "inbox" drivers:
HP LaserJet 4
HP LajerJet 5
HP LaserJet 1200 PCL
HP LaserJet 4000 PCL 6
The issue i ...

HP J5780 won't install with w2k
Sat, 25 Aug 2007 23:16:00 -0700
I've been on the phone with HP for two days now. No help. In the installation
process, only the barebones drivers are available..... the software suite
(all in one printer) won't install..... isn't even an option. HP's answer is
to change my OS, even though the box says W2k compatible. They did offer to
sell ...
