A repair install will fix the system paths, but it won't fix all of the paths associated with installed programs. Some third-party utilities will fix a lot of these problems, but probably not all of them (and will probably break some things in the process). -- - Gary Chanson (Windows SDK MVP) - Aboli ...

Just to exclude some stupid errors. To make sure that the HD is correctly connected. I have two sockets on the motherboard, next to one another for those flat ribbon cables. One socket is blue, the other one is black. How shall I tell which one is for the master HD? Also each ribbon has one connector at the end ...

fixboot fixmbr did not help either. My installation appeared to be on letter H drive and fixboot said that it will write boot sectors on C - I confirmed fixmbr warned that my existing MBR is unusual and it will rewrite it which might result in some partitions will become invisible - I confirmed Re-booted - sam ...

Where are tape drive properties?     13 Mar 2007 19:40:24 -0700
Hi All, I installed a new SCSI DLT1 tape drive. I installed the device driver downloaded from the HP web site. The tape drives appears to work fine but I want to verify the compression settings, among other things. I load 'Device Manager' and select the tape drive but there is no properties tab (like I f ...

resize partition - Win2K Server     Thu, 8 Mar 2007 08:47:40 -0600
Hi, I simply need to resize an NTFS partition on a Win2K Server machine but I don't want to pay $500 for the "server" versions of some of these products. Are there any freeware/shareware products that will resize partitions? Even paying something like $50 is not a problem as long as it also works with ...

I am not sure if this is a right place to ask the following question. If not, please guide me to the right place. One of my hard drive got pot meaning that when it is used as a single primary drive, BIOS immediately tell the boot failure message. When the drive is connected as slave, Win Explorer still rec ...

USB-HDD not recognised as removable disks     Sat, 03 Mar 2007 20:10:13 +0100
Dear all, when I connect a removable harddisk via USB it is recognised als disk drive, but as "local disk" which seems to be strange. When I connect an USB stick, this is also a "disk drive", but here it is as I expect: a "removable disk" How can I get the hard disk appear also as removable disk, when ...
