USB attached printer cannot be safely unplugged

I'm using Windows 2000 Server SP4.
When I plug my Epson Stylus Photo R360 USB cable into the server
almost the only visible sign of anything happening is the appearance
of "Removable Disk G:" in Windows Explorer.
There is no "remove icon" on the task bar.
Device Manager shows "USB Composite Device on U ...

We are looking at purchasing a NAS device to integrate into our environment.
One thing I have discovered is that the NAS devices marketed to the
small/mid size businesses tend to be fairly slow. Now this would be fine if
all we were doing was using it for backups etc... but my desire is to use

Help, lost my cdrom drives

Running Windows 2000 Pro SP4 and lost access to all my cdrom/dvd
drives/burners after I uninstalled and old version of Roxio Easy CD
Creator 5. The drives are detected by bios upon bootup, they are listed in
device manager, but do not come up under Windows Explorer, My Computer, and
not listed under logic ...

USB devices keep reinstalling

Any USB device I connect will continously reinstall. If the install is
cancelled, the system will not assign a drive letter and the device is not
accessible.
Any ideas?

Update memory

I'm going to update/increase the memory on a Windows 2000 Pro system. Is
there anything I need to do with the system prior to shutting down the
computer and intalling the new memory cards.

external USB harddrive problems

Recntly I bought an external USB hard drive. Initially it seemed to work OK
and I already made images of my PC and the notebook.
Problems started when I decided to add the new drive to my PC (which already

Win2K Pro - KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Error with external drive

I have Win2K Pro on a Dell Latitude D400 and get a
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error when I try plugging in the external USB
DVD/CD-ROM drive (D/Bay) that came with the PC. I also tried plugging in an
old iomega ZIP CD-ROM drive and got the same error.
The problem seems to be with the USB Mass Storage devi ...

USB HD won't detect as Mass Storage

Using Windows 2000 SP4.
The problem is that a Western Digital "My Passport Essential" external USB
hard drive won't auto-detect as a mass storage device. It only is detected
as a "USB 2.0 Device", which then prompts the New Hardware Wizard...and of
course I have no 3rd party driver to install. Can I force ...

Server RAM upgrade

I am trying to upgrade RAM on an HP Proliant ML310 server. I have (2)
CORSAIR 1GB 184-Pin
DDR SDRAM DDR 266 (PC 2100) ECC Registered Server Memory Model
CM72SD1024RLP-2100. When I place these into slots 1 and 2 and try and boot
the computer a
black screen comes up with what looks like a command line ...
