sound question

XP has sound options for 'device connect' and 'device disconnect'. I like it
especially when it triggers for USB devices. Was wondering if there's any
way to add these options to W2K's sound menu. I'm thinking there might be
because Norton Utilities (which is installed here) has options of its own in
the men ...

running a program prior to user logging in ?

is it possible in 2K or XP to run a program (in this instance, sol.exe
or windows solitaire for example) prior to the user logging in ? not
necessarily a script but an exe ?
i know under windows 9x/ME this was accomplished by running the
program as a service, how is it done under 2000 / XP ? if the same way

I'm working on a windows 2000 workstation as "guest" which has been made a
member of the "powerusers" group.
When I try to use "runas" (shift right click) I'm asked for the admin
password, but when I put it in, I get "access denied".
The "runas" service is running, and I'm typing the correct admin passwor ...

Hello, I've got WU set to prompt me, rather than automatically
install.. Today I got a WU alert asking me to install KB928365,
a security update for .Net 2.0.
As far as I can see, I don't actually have any flavor of .Net
installed at all. Why would I get this update?

Is Windows 7 Compatible w/Win2k DC?

We have a client running a Win2k domain, and just bought a new Win7 notebook.
Will we be able to add this system to the domain? I've searched for
information, but am unable to find a clear answer.
I would greatly appreciate any help in knowing whether this is possible, and

Does Word 2000 work under Windows 7?

I installed Office 2000 on my recently acquired Windows 7 Netbook and
Excel and Powerpoint appear to be working properly, but Word 2000 either
starts up without showing any toolbars and then stops responding or, if
I open it by double-clicking on a doc file, it does show the toolbars
but not the file content ...

I really do hope that you can help me with this. Do you happen to know where
I can get recovery CD's for my computer as my computer manufacturer no longer
has or makes them anymore. A site perhaps maybe? The computer manufacturer
told me that Microsoft would probably have them and if not then can you
please ...
