sound question     Fri, 19 Mar 2010 20:31:18 -0500
XP has sound options for 'device connect' and 'device disconnect'. I like it especially when it triggers for USB devices. Was wondering if there's any way to add these options to W2K's sound menu. I'm thinking there might be because Norton Utilities (which is installed here) has options of its own in the men ...

First of all... wow, no new threads in this group in 6 days?! That's rather unusual. Now, to the main topic of this post: As some of you guys and gals may recall, I've been posting in here every couple weeks for the last few months about my "COMPUTER KEEPS CRASHING" issue. To recap, my Win2K-SP4 system has ...

runas command won't work     Sat, 13 Mar 2010 13:33:01 -0800
Hi, I'm working on a windows 2000 workstation as "guest" which has been made a member of the "powerusers" group. When I try to use "runas" (shift right click) I'm asked for the admin password, but when I put it in, I get "access denied". The "runas" service is running, and I'm typing the correct admin passwor ...

prompted to install sec. update for Dot Net - KB928365     Sat, 13 Mar 2010 11:01:42 -0800
Hello, I've got WU set to prompt me, rather than automatically install.. Today I got a WU alert asking me to install KB928365, a security update for .Net 2.0. As far as I can see, I don't actually have any flavor of .Net installed at all. Why would I get this update? Thanks for any info. ...

We have a client running a Win2k domain, and just bought a new Win7 notebook. Will we be able to add this system to the domain? I've searched for information, but am unable to find a clear answer. I would greatly appreciate any help in knowing whether this is possible, and any gotchas if it is. Thank ...

Does Word 2000 work under Windows 7?     Fri, 12 Mar 2010 12:45:09 +0000
I installed Office 2000 on my recently acquired Windows 7 Netbook and Excel and Powerpoint appear to be working properly, but Word 2000 either starts up without showing any toolbars and then stops responding or, if I open it by double-clicking on a doc file, it does show the toolbars but not the file content ...

Can you please help me?     Fri, 12 Mar 2010 04:07:01 -0800
I really do hope that you can help me with this. Do you happen to know where I can get recovery CD's for my computer as my computer manufacturer no longer has or makes them anymore. A site perhaps maybe? The computer manufacturer told me that Microsoft would probably have them and if not then can you please ...
