NTFS question - max number of files on root of C:?     Mon, 1 Oct 2007 16:09:30 -0400
I always thought that NTFS did away with limitations on the number of files you can have in the root directory. Today I had a user that couldn't boot up to Win2K, the box just sits there with a blinking cursor before the normal splash screen has a chance to come up, and I figured the hard drive might have go ...

Hi, I have lost a text file on a server disk. I know it is somewhere on the unused space surface, but no file-based recovery utility has been able to locate the filename. Hence I need a utility which can read trough unused sectors or clusters and display its contents when a specific text string is found ...

folder entirely unreadable     Fri, 14 Sep 2007 15:06:47 GMT
My laptop (using Windows 2000) got infected a few months ago and I haven't been using it. I've just got round to disinfecting it, using HijackThis and AVG, and it seemed to be clear. Today when I turned it on, it said I should check the disks for consistency. Immediately it started giving "folder entirely un ...

Hello, Is it possible to create a CD/DVDROM - bootable and containing a full Windows 2000 or XP installation like the hard drive installation. FAT, FAT 32, etc.     Sun, 02 Sep 2007 18:33:43 GMT
Hey, I'm about a dumb as they come on FAT's. I'm using W2000 and the hard drive is FAT32. A thumb drive is FAT..... What's the best type of file system to use with Win2000? If FAT32 is not that bad, I'll stick with it to avoid the 'learning curve', but is there something out there better? Thanks! Bob ...
