I have a question in regards to DNS using the 'Append parent suffixes of the
primary DNS suffix'.
Example:
Windows 2000 domain (corp.123.net.au)
External DNS is 123.net.au
Internal zone is corp.123.net.au
Forwarders set to external DNS
Clients have 'Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix' set by ...

resolve name to IP outside domain

Hi all,
is it possible to set up my DNS server (W2K) on my .local domain so that
when clients type only "sitename" in a browser (no suffixes or anything)
the server resolves it to an IP address that isn't in the .local domain?

i have 2 server windows 2000 and every server have acces to same internal
network and external , one of them mail server and the 2nd application
server but when i do nslookup from external server for searching my server
it resolve it with internal and external adress

Exchange and Outlook Connectivity

We have clients that cannot connect to exchange, our Exchange server
went down last week and we had to rebuild it on another machine, re
add it to the domain as the same name as the old Exchange box. It was

I have spent the last three days working on this issue and im stumped.
I am setting up a domain controller on windows server 2003 Enterprise

Cisco VPN Client 4.8 kills DNS

We just migrated into a new Windows 2003 server. For work reasons we
need to connect to an outside server through a cisco VPN client. The
problem is when we are connected, we can no longer resolve DNS
queries. We can ping any IP address fine, we just cannot resolve any

I have a W2K3 network with 2 DCs running DNS PRi and Sec with reverse lookup
zones.
Recently we decommissioned our main DC which i will call - SrvA(FSMO).
I transferred FSMO roles to SrvB. SrvC was brought on line and promoted to
