Mapped Drive disappears

On a couple Windows Xp machines one of the Mapped Drive disappears. All
the users affected are in the same users group in active directory.

I have a domain based DFS with two root servers (no replication between
root servers) and several targets.
On rootserver1 we have one shared dfs folder d:\WinXPMenu with

I've inherited a large Win2k3 only network that uses a lot of DFS links
to replicate data between our central HQ and remote sites. I wanted to
configure this to exclude certain file types that might take up a lot
