VLC media player 0.8.6c doesn't play WMV file

I got a WMV demo and played it using Windows Media Player. It was
fine, but my attempts to scale the screen to 200% doesn't seem to
cause a change in size. I installed VLC, but it doesn't show any
video. There is a VLC window that shows controls to play, stop,

Also, our system to be targeted for this (separate to previous emails) is a 4
way video capture system.
Does ICOP market anything tin this area?
We want to simultaneously capture to disk (with hardware processing to say
MPEG 2 or 4 prior to saving to disk) 4 video inputs.
