works and word

I receive E-mail attachments on my MS Home edition laptop which I can not
open. It pops up and states to close something and then goes back to the
E-mail folder. I assume it is comming from Word and I have works. Is there
anyway to recieve these without giving MS a couple hundred for Word.

I saw but did not buy a laptop at a thrift store that looked fairly modern
and appeared to have XP Pro. The store had a very low price due to the fact
that the pc was donated with the password still in force. No one there had
a clue what it was. Other than fdisk and installing another os is there a
way to work ...

My computer crashed. So my step son took it to his friends house and erased
the hard drive. Then he installed WindowsXP Professional SP2. MicroSoft will
not let me download anything, because they say the program is not genuine. Is

New computer-XP transfer

I have a "new" pc with a totally blank hard drive, i.e no operating system
on it.
I think I recall, many years ago, it was possible to copy everything from
one pc to another, using some sort of program on a floppy disc. I don't
think it was xcopy?
Can this still be done with XP Pro, or do I have to go throug ...
