automatic numbering of music files

I currently have about 2500 music files in two folders. Recently, each file
has somehow had a 2 digit number appended to it. For instance, Goodbye Yellow
Brick Road.mp3 has mysteriously been renamed 01Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.mp3.
That number makes it impossible to sort the songs by name. Any ideas as to

Hello,
I have a music folder where I keep all the mp3 files. Each file was stored
with its title only, i.e. " Papa's got a brand new band.mp3."
Recently however, somehow each file has a 2 digit number appended. Now the
file is named, "01 Papa's got a ....mp3." Those numbers really screw up the

All the music that I have saved on my computer will not play in WMP 11. It's
saved in MP3 or wma format. It gives me an error and sends me to a wesite to
help. The website (for windows) tells me it's the sound device. But if I go
