"Temporary Internet Files" Folder. Is it always OK to delete contents?

I want to radically clean up my C: drive and my external backup drive.
¿¿ Is it always OK to delete the contents of folders such as
...\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files for all user names??
I use CCleaner, but it does not appear to delete all such files. I use both
MSIE and Mozilla Firefox, and ...

System Recovery failure

Hello all, need help on a destructive system recovery I am trying to complete
on my laptop. I have the regular xp home edition and I needed to do a
destructive system recovery. All went well until the about the middle of the
"finalizing" stage of the recovery when xp does a "searching for installed

Erasing files from recycler

When I run a full scan with Kaspersky IS9 it tells me that there's a
vulnerability in an activex component of an old copy of Acrobat reader
5.0 which resides in the recycler. I'm not sure whether I should be
concerned about this but is there any way or need to erase this file?

When I start my computer it takes 10-15 minutes for the icons to appear on
the desk top, if they ever appear. The task bar then disappears temporarily
and clicking on anything takes forever to respond. (sometimes hours)
Sometimes the entire system just locks up and I can't do anything.

Reinstall of Xp Pro SP2, but updates fail to install

Hi I just did a clean on stall of my XP Pro with SP2, but after downloading
all my updates (custom not sp3) they down load, but fail to install all 98 of
them. I did try the updaterfix.bat, but that did not help as well, any ideas. ...

Logon and logoff

Need some help, please.
After a windows update and reboot, I can log in but it quickly logs me
out -- no chance at all. I can start in SAFE mode and log in OK. Virus
software is up-to-date, and other scans do not help (but can only run in
safe mode).
Any ideas?

Windows XP will not start

I'm in safe mode. clicked on start with command promt. cmd.exe window is up.
problem is the promt reads c:\documents and settings\ administrator. when I
type in %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe it fails to work.
Any sugestions?
