Drive mappings

I am having a problem with xp mapping drives. After a user logs in (server
2003) their server drives are mapped. When they try to plug in a usb camera,
ext drive, etc...windows will not assign it to an open drive letter. Is
there a setting I can use to open it up to search for ALL open drive letters

Defrag shows disk full, but it isn't

WinXP SP2. When I run a defrag, the analyze graphic shows my 160GB disk as
almost full, yet it is only 25% full in Explorer. I have run defrag a few
times recently and though the number of files is increasing slowly the

Slow login outside diomain

When a user tries to login with domain account using cached credentials it
takes about 5 minutes for the login to complete after entering credentials.
When I diasable the network card it takes 5 seconds. Local accounts load

Mapped network drive error

shows it trying to double click on a mapped network drive in My
Computer.

Gateway Laptop HD Question

I'm attempting to troubleshoot a friends Gateway model 7422GX laptop:
On bootup no operating system found because no HD is found!!!
I've slid out the HD, looked it over and then plugged it back in. Never seen
a HD fail in such a way that the system says it's not there.
