Folder deletion problem, user profiles culprit?

My computer is on a network, and I routinely use Win Explorer to do file
management on the network drives from my (Win XP) computer.
I'm often prevented from deleting or renaming folders because I had a file
in that folder open in an application (Word, Acrobat, or even a "view" of
that folder in Win Explore ...

After a power outage last week my son's Dell Dimension 2400 won't boot, light

Save As in My Pictures - always uses Thumbnail View

My applications insist on opening Save As > My Pictures (and Save As >
My Videos) in Thumbnail view. As these folders contain scores of
subfolders I want to browse quickly, that's not appropriate for me. Is
it possible to change this behaviour please? IOW, open these 'special'
folders like all my others, in LIST ...

Custom user profile

I have created a custom user profile (named test) in the Windows XP SP2
shared PC.How to configure such that all user will use the same user
profile.
That mean,
Regardless which Domain user login to the PC, it will not create a new user
profile, the PC will always load the 'test' profile which i had created ...

i want to replace the shell with my DVB application. i want it to restart
this program whenever it is closed. however, it simply doesnt work, when
windows starts i get my custom app, but once closed or crashed i just get a
