Windows XP SP3 Power Management Bug

I have installed Windows Service Pack 3 version 3311 and I am having some
issues with the power management functions. Mainly the issue is with XP not
saving the status of the Power Management option "Turn off monitor" within
the "Power Schemes" tab. On each PC start my monitor power settings are not

My Windows XP doesn't load good all the time. I may have to do it two or
three times. The little blocks freeze at some point during loading.
Sometimes, BIOS stops with disk failure. However, it seems to run fine once
I get Windows loaded. I restored back to a point where it seems to run

My son has re-installed windows xp sp2 after having a problem with his
computer.
However the hard drive has set itself up in 2 partitions and both drives
indicate they are full to capacity.

Autoplay craziness

When I bring my external USB hard drive online I get an Autoplay operation
going.
Suddenly I am getting TWO Autoplay operations going on - two sets of
dialog - within seconds of each other. Each one must be dismissed
separately.
I really don't care that much how it started. How can I stop it?

I have a system with XP Pro Service Pack 3.
At start up, a *.vbs script maps network drives for the user.
In Windows explorer, instead of the "share on 'server' (M)" appearing it
says "Network Drive (M)". Each reboot changes the symptoms but there is
always one or more network drives that demonstrate this ...

What is the purpose of the My Network Places icon?
I access our network drives using My Computer. Just wondering if I can use
My Network Places for other tasks. When I open the icon the only item in it
is "My Web Sites on MSN".
