'Search Companion' Problem

Have somewhat of a problem and need help.
After a recent update, I no longer have dialog when I select 'Search' from
the 'Start' menu (Start > Search ).
The animated character appears, but there is no dialog (options for searches
or to change preferences). 'Google is my friend' but have not found

External Hard Drive Question

I have two external USB harddrives. Each drive has a shortcut on the
desktop. Just today, a red circle, with a question mark inside, appeared
for the first time. I always use the "safely remove hardware" option to
disengage the drives. Even with the red circle and question marks, the
drives operated norm ...

Hine Page Problem

XP Home SP2
Just finished reinatalling everything. When I loaded IE I tried to
set Google as my home page. Unfortunately I typed it as
www.google,com. In case you can't see it, thats a comma in front of
the com.
I've "fixed" the problem by going to Google and selecting "Current
Page" as well as retyping ...

unable to install xp pro

I am unable to install windows xp pro on packard bell laptop. the cd is new
and starts in another laptop, so cd rom drive should be ok. it is set to boot
from cd rom drive.
but on this lapto where i am trying to install xp, linux ubuntu installs
fine. laptop used to have both xp home and ubuntu in dual boot ...

I have removed Vista and gone back to XP, my question is how do
I remove at bootup the 3 lines of text left by vista installation,that give
me the
option of starting with vista or an earlier version of windows, I want to
remove the vista text lines (3), so that at bootup I don't have to sit and
wait to choose ...

Scanner and Camera Wizard

This function does not recognize the Konica Minolta 2950MP and I cannot seem
to add drivers to the list from the disk. Is there some way to get the
Wizard to recognize the multi function printer/scanner?

Changing Disk format from FAT31 to NTFS

Is there any way to change an external hard disk that I have (USB
connection) from a FAT32 to an NTFS type? I have tried to back up my main
disk using the WinXP backup function, but it bombs out because it says that
FAT32 does not support files larger than 4GB. I have Acronis Disk Director,
but cannot unders ...
