How to disconnect Sharepoint enabled link to defunct IP address?

I had sharepoint installed and was linked to SP portal. Company folded, but
defunct IP still shows up in network places. Unable to delete link. It hangs
when attempting to connect, and doesn't respond to deletion requests. How to
get rid of this relic? ...

link in this iteration, to just take advantage of the performance increase.
In the next rollout, we intend to make My Sites available.
