Document storage in Sharepoint Portal server

When we store documents in Sharepoint where are they stored? We are using it
with a SQL Server database. Are the documents stored in SQL or elsewhere?

microsoft project 2003 on it but the share point 2003 is not compatable with
my version of windows because it needs windows 2003 server.

Hi guys,
When I open up a shared document workspace using Word 2003 and go to view
the "Documents" tab I get the following message:
"There are too Many Items To Display - View this list in the web browser."
Is there a way to increase the amount of items that are returned to Word 2003.

At one time there was a software plug-in that SPS 2001 users could install
who had Office 2003 installed on their PC. Does anyone know the URL for that
software download from Microsoft?
