Migration to Hosted Exchange server
Thu, 8 May 2008 15:36:42 -0700
My company is planning to migrate from hosting their own SBS 2003 to an
Exchange host provider. One of the techs suggested a method to minimize down
time that I wanted to get another opinion on.
They want to try having the local users create a final, local cached copy
(w/ Outlook 2k3) of their mailbox, then ...

Exch2007 Connection Filtering
Thu, 8 May 2008 15:36:32 -0700
In Exch2000, we limited our SMTP connection access by only allowing specific
IP addresses under SMTP server properties>Access Tab>Connection>"Only the
list below".
In Exch2007 SP1, could we accomplish the same by entering the IP addresses
in the Receive Connectors of the Hub Transport under Server Configura ...

NTBackup and Exchange
Thu, 8 May 2008 15:14:01 -0700
I have a question about NTBackup and Exchange in SBS2003. I used to backup
the Microsoft Information Store and System State in one backup (Exchange on
X, Winnt on C). As of last week, I could no longer fit them on one tape, so
I moved the System State to Monday, Mailbox on Tuesday, and Public on
Wednesday. ...

Exchange 2007 Transition
Thu, 8 May 2008 15:44:45 -0500
We currently run Exchange 2003 with an Internet Mail Service Connector that
is setup to forward mail to our main SMTP server. In planning our
transition to 2007, do we need the Hub Transport role to accomplish this
same thing? Or is the Hub transport role installed by default (or required)?
Thanks,

Good day,
Does anyone have a reference article that describes the ports needed for SCR

more?
Thank you,

Move storage groups & databases?
Thu, 8 May 2008 12:32:03 -0700
New ex2k7 install into existing Ex2000 org.
I plan to create a storage group for each of my 3 databases. I had planned
on moving the databases to a dedicated drive, and leave the logs in the
original location, but what about the actual storage groups?
Do I need to move them as well?
My current Ex2000 ...

Thu, 08 May 2008 15:14:27 -0400
Hi All:
I have just transitioned our workplace from Exchange 2003 to Exchange

In Exchange 2003, I ran a back end server just for webmail.
Internally, the computer name of this backend server was WEBMAIL. The
server was used some internally for webmail but way more often
externally ...
