SQL Server 2005 - SP2 Does not install???

I am running MS SQL Server 2005 on a virtualized instance of Windows
Server 2008.
The Windows Update says that SQL 2005 requires SP2. So I allowed it to
download and install. It said it installed successfully.
Next time I checked for updates - there is SQL 2005 SP2 in the list
again!
I tried rebooting - ...

I tried to install sql 2005 enterprise on windows server 2008 enterprise but
it failed after installing instance of it. ie it dint installed client
components and management studio but it terminated.
Can any one help me with this ...

Now I can't see the sql server service in services snap-in
The sql is installed because I can see it in the "add or remove program",
but I can't reinstall it because it say that there is a default istance yet.

Trying to install SQL 2008 Enterprise on WS 2008 enterprise. First the setup
