Configuring protocols in SQL Native Client

When SQL Native Client has been installed on a client computer using
SQLNCLI.MSI, the Configuration Manager is not installed. Hence the question:
How do we configure the protocol to be used to connect to the server ?

I have recently changed my application from using SQLOLEDB to SQLNCLI.
Occasionally I'm seeing an error "SMux Provider: Physical Connection is not
usable"
What does this mean and where does it come from ?

Can't conenct to sql 2005

Hi,
Can you connect to SQL 2005 if you're not part of the domain the server is
installed in?
I installed the client and it can see my SQL 2000 server but not the SQL
2005 server.
Is it because the laptop I installed it on is not part of the domain?
