Lost pictures and tabs when viewed as a web page

Newie to publisher
When I have developed the web site it all looks fine and the multiple pages
all look to be linked ok
When I view as a web site I loose all the pictures and tabs.
This worked fine for the first few pages but I must have done somthing silly
as I now only see the wording ...

I have seen that certain websites have margins that grow in width as the
browser is maximised - I think logically that tables must be involved but
can't quite work it out. Does anybody know how? ...

Create menu item to open in new window

The external web page is an integral part of my website, and so I need it as
a menu link, not as a hyperlink. Sadly, so far I only know how to make
