Using Publisher for Large Format layout
Fri, 2 Mar 2007 14:53:06 -0800
Does anyone use Publisher for large format layout (i.e. 30"x42"). We have a
guy that insists that Publisher is the end all be all in graphics, I disagree
and use Adobe Photoshop for stuff like this. If you did create a document
this size in Publisher is it possible to print it @ 11x17, 8.5x11 or other

Fri, 2 Mar 2007 04:39:03 -0800
Hi,
I'm trying to set-up a file I've designed in Publisher (A5 Booklet) so that
the outside pages are in colour but the inside section is black & white. The
reason I need to distinguish is when I send it to our office printer it costs
more to print entirely in colour, even if the designs are black and whi ...

eventually be sent to a commercial printer. I have been told to convert the
publisher document to a PDF and send the PDF to the printer. I have two

Printing freezing up??? HELP!
Sun, 25 Feb 2007 08:22:00 -0800
When I try to print a page in a file after editing it, Publisher freezes up
my printer and the program becomes non responsive. It was working fine then
all of a sudden it is doing this. I am using the trial version, and if this
is the kind of trouble I am going to have I certainly won't be purchasing it!

Re: Insertable pictures

DO NOT use GIF.
Why? most of the time gifs have a transparent background and in MS Pub THESE CANNOT BE RENDERED IN CMYK/SPOT only in RGB which is useless for prepress. Anyone who advocates use of GIF in prepress-bound projects is inexperienced in the real world of prepress.
JPG is also a bad format to use (m ...

Re: PDF import
Sat, 24 Feb 2007 19:19:53 -0800
PDF import is not something Microsoft is likely to include. Not now. Not in 20 years (IMHO, of course). Unless they buy Adobe.
Save as eps from Acrobat (use Postscript level 1--that's important!-- with tiff preview. It won't bring in an eps PS level 2 or 3) and bring that in OR if you have Acrobat 8 you can sav ...

Re: pictures embedded in publisher publication at 600dpi

DO NOT COPY AND PASTE.
Save as tiff out of PSP then import.
Copy and paste runs it thru the system pasteboard and that is what caused the changes.
