Smart Tag Deployment Without Editing Registry

Hi,
Is it possible to deploy smart tags on a client machine without having to
edit the clients registry? If not, is there a reasonable workaround? Ideally
I would like my smart tag dll to be downloaded when the document is opened,
as is with smart documents.

It's working quite fine, I can use my UI in the task pane in Word.

smar tag - word interaction

One of the things i want to be able to do with the smart tags is, as a
result of a selected action, be able to change some behavior in the Word
instance that executed the action. For example, if a term is recognized in
the document, one of the actions is to add some text, or enable a button,
etc.
