unable to view email replies

When certain people reply to my email messages I can't view their replies.
Their message appears in the pop up indicator but when I click on the message
in my inbox it's not there. Just my original message is. There is no
attachment or empty space. How can I view their message? ...

how to show an email has been opened

When I double click on an email that email still shows un-read. I have to
click off of that email and click back on, then it finally shows open. In
the reading pain I have only single key checked. I use 2003.
