Why can't I send email messages with Trial Outlook 2007?

I have a new HP laptop that came with the 60 day trial of Office'07. I
receive email but the send/reply/compose functions are grayed out. I am
certain my settings are correct. Why can't I send email?

Will not load complete email when opening

I don't know what kind of an update Outlook 2007 or Vista has done in the
last week.
Now, when I open my JobServe emails, with 4 to 11 job listings, they will
not open to show the full email until I click on the scroll bar. It is like
the email is on hold. The only thing I see, which opens and hogs my AMD ...
