Replication: Alternatives?
Fri, 09 Dec 2005 16:47:47 GMT
Good day,
I am just starting to familiarize myself with Replication, and wish to
validate some concerns.
A client wishes to have a Main database on a LAN that will be updated by 4
different users, each with a laptop, and each with a copy of the database (or
at least the relevant fields). The database has ...

Large AutoNumbers?
Fri, 9 Dec 2005 08:06:03 -0800
I'm thinking this might have to do with an unsynched replica - but does
creating a record with an AutoNumber field generate a large integer like
1412143??
it seemed really out of place and through me off when I looked at the number.
I even saw a negative number in a table where the related field was a

A good book or reference source for Replication in Access 2003
Thu, 8 Dec 2005 18:45:05 +1100
Can any one suggest a good book or reference on Replication in Access 2003?
I have "Access 2000 Developers Handbook" by Litwin, Getz and Gilbert and
also "Access 2000 Development Unleashed " by Forte, Howe and Ralston which
are both good books.
However I'm sure there have been improvements since the 2000 ...

Must Constantly "Reconfigure" Replication Manager
7 Dec 2005 20:43:26 -0800
In trying to synch two replicas in two different cities but on the same
closed network, I am experiencing an odd problem. After about a week
or two of successfully scheduled indirect synchs, they start failing.
The only way to get them to work (and even doing a direct synch doesn't
get it going again) is open ...

Linked table somehow became local?
Wed, 7 Dec 2005 14:54:02 -0800
Has anyone ever experienced this?
I can't imagine how it happened.
I've been working with a front end called IM.mdb
which points to a replica on the network callled InterfaceUpdate.mdb
incidentally, there is a local replica in c:\IM with the same name
InterfaceUpdate.mdb...
The only code that I can ...

Backend bloating
Wed, 7 Dec 2005 15:57:28 -0600
We have used a complex Access (02-03) medical billing application for 18
months. The backend is replicated (2 global replicas and a design master)
and direct synch has been used only. Roving laptops log onto network
locally to sync.
There are about 50 tables and there are ~ 700 patient's entered. The b ...

Replication newbie question(s)
Wed, 7 Dec 2005 14:48:38 -0500
Hi -
I originally posted to public.access, but this sound like the right place
for my question.
This has already been addressed, sort of, but I could not find exactly what
I am looking for.
I have a low traffic web site with an access 2003 db behind it. I now need
to somehow
synchronize the live prod ...

Hi,
I'm trying to get familiar with the concept of replica's, but it still
confuses me a bit.
Here's my situation:
1) my database application, *.mdb file, should be distributed from time to
time to a friend of mine. His copy of the database is completely detached
from my database (no connection through s ...
